My mother is way too hard on herself when she draws pictures.  She's quite good at it, especially for someone who doesn't have much experience drawing.  Yet, she often doesn't take a compliment.  She'll only point out the minor mistakes she made.

It's like, "Ma, you can't be the world's greatest artist after just three weeks of practicing it!"

She also thinks when you're just trying to be nice when you admire one of her pictures.

Some people are perfectionists. They never settle for anything less than perfection, or what they see as a perfection. Nothing wrong with that, really. It just takes them more time to get things done since they pay attention to every little detail other people would probably overlook or ignore.

Attention to details can be important, especially for graphic designers, architects, people whose work involves creating various types of detailed schematics, etc.

Also, I have moved this thread from the Graphical Galore section to General Shenanigans section. Its topic doesn't quite fit the Graphical Galore section since that place is meant for showing your graphic work and this topic has a potential to evolve into a discussion about perfectionism, self-criticism and things related to that. :)
